About the Artist

Annapolis artist, Julie Gammack, lives on Burley Creek in Annapolis, Maryland where boats destined for Chesapeake Bay Harbor glide past her studio window.

The concept for Art On Charts came about when Julie created a pastel painting of a friend's 41-foot Bristol overlaid on a maritime chart of the Bay. The result was a hauntingly beautiful impressionistic rendition of his beloved boat with the lines of the chart bleeding through the colors.  Boat owning friends who saw the painting wanted one of their boats on their favorite charts and in September of 2001, Art On Charts became a thriving business.

Julie is an entrepreneur who leads a group of Annapolis-based emerging entrepreneurs through TEC International, an organization serving CEOs worldwide. In addition, she is a contributing essayist for Chesapeake Bay Magazine and leader of the Burley Creek Writers Group.

Julie cruises the Chesapeake Bay under power (in @Bay!, a 13' Whaler) and sail (a 23' Venture Newport named True Blue).

Prior to moving to Annapolis in December of 2000, Julie lived in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a daily feature columnist for The Des Moines Register and was a talk radio host for WHO radio.
